The history behind this track
There’s a lot of history behind this track which I have a special endearment to.
‘You’re the one’ was originally composed and produced back in the day 1989 and I self-released it on rave records copyright 1989 a label which I formed with my old friend Steve Treacher.
you’re the one I originally composed and Co-produced with Breeze and Steve Treacher back in the day “1989’ it was our first record release under my then pseudonym ‘Haywire’.
This track was initially recorded on BASF One-inch analogue master tape well before the digital age.
In 2021 I decided to re-record and revamp the original 1989 track, but the drawback was because the analogue master had not been used in some 32 years from 1989-2021 it had become prone to degradation.
After doing some research I found by applying heat to the tape at high temperature could reverse the damage. And so, I arranged to have the analogue master professionally baked in an oven, and to my delight the original master tape became usable again, thus allowing me to transfer the original 89 recording track stems from analogue to digital
format and into Logic pro.
Fast forward 33 years 89-2022 this knew offering which infuses elements of the original 89 recorded track stems
Lead vocal
lead guitar hook
trumpet horn stabs (recorded live) are the only remnants from our original 89 haywire cut after stripping the tracks right down.
Description
This current 2022 version of ‘you’re the one’ born out of the ashes of our original 89 cut sees Norman once again team up with long-time collaborator Breeze who featured on the original 89 mix and fellow ACM (Academy of contemporary music) Ba Hons graduate Malachi Foster to bring a fresh twist on Norman’s 89 version of ‘you’re the One’.
An electric Rhodes Piano layered with a string pad introduces a Four-part harmonic chord pattern, a sweet alluring vocal chant
‘you’re the one’ you’re the one’ that’s propped up by a solid four to the floor with a cutting sweep.
The chorus gradually builds momentum introducing a syncopated high end frequency melodic arpeggio synth pattern that adds depth and subtle tension before breaking out into an infectious instrumental groove reminiscent of 80s jazz funk only now with a contemporary house twist an ethereal lead guitar hook and the odd brass stab or two.
Sustained and dreamy synth/strings and pads weave and swerve in the bridge section and textured harmonic guitar lead adds contrast and release acting as the backdrop to a beautifully poignant vocal line
‘touched with your magic it’s where I need to be’
Sure to create an emotional response for its audience.
On a special plane obtain.
